2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring- After nearly two years on the market, the latest Civic has certainly been doing well for Honda in both winning comparison tests and winning the sales charts in this very competitive compact segment.

The New 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring

If you guys follow me closely you'll know that last year the company actually invited me out to Monterrey California to drive the new Civic hatchback, where I did a full review on the Sport with a 6-speed manual transmission. However this week Honda sent me the 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring trim which literally has the aggressive looks. Unfortunately the Sport Touring only comes with the CVT transmission which is you know the transmission that mostly were actually going to end up buying. So I figured a full review would be necessary for this 2017 Honda Civic hatchback.

But I really love the fact that there are center mounted dual exhausts, chrome tipped of course on the Sport Touring, and the exhaust is actually functional adds about 6 horsepower versus the standard Civic that have the hidden exhaust pipes. But you also have an aggressive rear diffuse on the 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring, you have subtle integrated spoiler with that kind of split certainly gives us a really miniature crossover look. But overall the hatchback is a little bit shorter than the sedan and a little bit longer than the coupe. It splits the differences stretches about 177 inches long. This makes it roughly about 3 inches shorter than the sedan.

2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring Engine

Underneath the hood of the 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring hatchback you only get one engine choices. And this is a good engine, and is not offering the 2 liter base motor like the coupe and Sedan. And this 1.5 liter direct injection turbocharged 4-cylinder makes nice numbers in the Sport and Sport Touring. Produce 480 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque.

Now this engine did not have VTECH and there's not VTECH on the things in all. But you can hear it has a direct injection from all the ticking and this engine will be powering the next Civic Si when it comes to market next year producing about 205 horsepower..

Now you can see the design of this car certainly still looks very striking. Now some of you have definitely argued about the fact that the Civic design especially in hatchback can be a little bit over styled overall. Especially the Sport Touring model gives you standard full LED headlights which certainly elevate the Civic into a premium look. it literally looks more expensive than a lot of Acura vehicles which is certainly a little bit weird.

Now you can see the 2017 Honda Civic sport touring model comes with the beautiful 18-inch wheels. These are actually the same size tires that you got on the previous generation Honda Civic Si. But now the overall profile the hatchback certainly can look a little strange especially from the rear. The reason being is because Honda made the hatchback slightly taller than the sedan.

I don't particularly like, I think they should have made it lower, so that this car kind of look like the Accord and Crosstour. My favorite design point of this car I think it looks better from the front.

2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring Interior

Now looking at the interior of the 2018 Honda Civic sport touring you can see my tester has the black leather with some contrasting white just stitching. It has like some carbon fiber look trim in the centre of the console and they look really high-quality. Honestly they look like in a luxury sedan and I kind of wish my tester had a little bit more contrast, it's a little bit too black.

Now the EX and up trims will give you the LCD display in the instrument panel. The Sport and Sport Touring models give you red illumination. As opposed to the white you get on the regular cars and these have a specially tuned exhaust so the engine sounds a little bit more racy dare. I say it's a nice sounding 4-cylinder which by the way all the 1.5 turbo comes standard on all Civic hatchback models.

Now you can see looking at the rest the interior it hasn't really changed too much versus the sedan and coupe. You can see there are also 12 speakers in particular trim and a premium audio system.

2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring Features

The steering wheel it's nice and leather wrapped, you have paddle shifters on the 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring which didn't come on the coupe with the sedan. So there's another reason to go for the hatchback model? And then of course the Honda has as standard safety features. So you'll have active lane keep assist, you'll have adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, row departure mitigation and automatic braking and stuff like that. So it's all great safety features throwing in.

On the display, 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring not that 5-inch display that you get in the LX. This is the on the link head unit that's like 7-inches with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. So of course that's a really nice feature for the younger buyers and you have to go for and an extra more up to get this feature. The touch response is pretty good, so that's definitely something that a lot of younger buyers are going to want.

2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring Price and Release Date

I'm super excited to drive the upcoming Civic Si and the Civic Touring models come to market next in June 2017. Now we talked about the price, because the hatchback obviously is the most expensive. A base LX model where the stick shift starts at $19,700 it's about a thousand dollars more than the sedan. if you compare two competitors the hatchback, is a little bit more expensive than a Mazda 3 and Volkswagen Golf. Roughly within a couple hundred dollars, so it's negligible. But 2017 Honda Civic Sport Touring it's actually a lot cheaper than a Cruze Hatchback.

You are probably going to go for the EX trim that's going to cost you about three grand more than the base LX it's going to give you the remote start the push button start. I mean that's a pretty worthy upgrade to spend around $23,000 and of course is the most expensive Civic. You can currently buy it stickers for just over $29,000. I hope you guys have enjoyed my full review on the 2017 Honda Civics sport touring hatchback and read more 2018 Honda Civic Type R Specs, Features, Review.
