So with that transition happening brands have also been transitioning their lineups to favor crossovers. The Infiniti QX30 which introduced last year is infinity smallest and cheapest offering. As always our full review will cover the entire range of 2018 Infiniti QX30 all the way from the base model to high-end premium, And see if the Infiniti QX30 accomplishes the mission.
2018 Infiniti QX30 Engine
The 2018 Infiniti QX30 is based off the Mercedes GLA while most things are thoroughly different. Let's start reviewing the 2018 Infiniti QX30 engine specifications are mechanically identical to the Mercedes Benz GLA, though Infiniti has returned some stuff to their liking.
The only engine available on every trim is a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder, which produces 208 horsepower, 258 pound-feet of torque. It paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with an available intelligent all-wheel drive on the luxury or premium trims. The front and all-wheel drive cars are substantially different.
For fuel economy, Infiniti QX30 has a pretty good number as a small urban vehicle. Aided by a standard idle stop system the front-wheel drive 2018 Infiniti QX30 gets 24 City, 33 highway, 27 combined and the all-wheel-drive version gets slightly less at 21 City, 30 Highway 25 combined.
So now let's check out the stylish exterior design the place where you definitely won't see any Mercedes resemblance. The exterior styling the front is dominated by the typical double arch infinity grille with the sort of graphite mesh in the middle. The chrome portion flows up into the headlights they are halogen beams with LED daytime running lights for all models.
Those same two models get the LED fog lamps. Now the lower grille the big differences between the models the 2018 Infiniti QX30. An all-wheel-drive QX30 the ground clearance is the highest at eight inches. The standard front-wheel drive 2018 Infiniti QX30 sets a decent amount lower to the ground at 6.8-inches, and it has the regular looking lower grille. And then you've got the sport which places lower still at 6.1-inches, and it gets black mesh models.
Coming to the wheels, 2018 Infiniti QX30 has the 18-inch split five-spoke alloy wheels which come on all-wheel drive models. Every front-wheel drive 2018 Infiniti QX30 gets 18-inch split five-spoke alloy wheels with a different design. Besides for the sport which gets 19-inch gun metal alloy wheels. Regardless of trim, the brakes are 12.6 central ventilated discs in the front, and 11.6 inch solid discs in the rear, the standard tire is in all season. But the sports trim gets standard summers, instead of on most models.
On the side is where the QX30 looks the most like the GLA. But even then it's not a strong resemblance the overall length is 1704,2 inches long which is substantially identical to the BMW X1, and also about 2 inches longer than the Audi Q3.
Around back the high looks continue compared to the GLA. The styling is significantly swooper, and it matches nicely with the arch grille in the front.
Active Safety System
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has still not rated the 2018 Infiniti QX30 or even the GLA for that matter, and regardless there is a lot of active safety tech that you can get. But it's optional only on the top-end premium and sports models included in this technology package; blind spot warning, lane departure warning, forward emergency braking, intelligent cruise control and auto high and low beam.
You've got a wiper rear spoiler and also silver roof rails for all-wheel drive models. Like pretty much everything else in this car, the fuel capacity varies depending on if it's front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The front-wheel drives 13.2-gallon tank it's at 356 miles of range compared to 370 miles. For the 14.8-gallon all-wheel drive model premium fuel is required.
2018 Infiniti QX30 Interior
The 2018 Infiniti QX30 interior is impressive at first glance and not just for an entry level vehicle. Most models get the Nappa leather used throughout the cabin, including Wheat color option but Graphite Brown and Gallery White are also available. Those last two color options require specific packages.
If you choose the under 30 grand base model, you get black cloth seats, and the sport gets gray leather seats. Finally real wood is available as a package on the premium. The door also has a pleasant design. The armrest area has beautiful stitch leather, and it even surrounds the window switches. The windows themselves are auto up and down. Above that, you'll find the eight-way power seat controls Mercedes style. And then there are also three-person memory functions on luxury and premium trims.
On the actual seat, you have the four-way lumbar. Like I said this is the Nappa leather and it's very nice. You'll begin to notice the nice touches, all around there's a sense of quality. From the cabin design and also from the materials most of the dash is covered with stitched leather and soft touch plastic. The middle portion matches the seats and further increases visual appeal, everything feels solid and way back there is a full part new.
This year Infiniti has added push-button ignition the seven-inch display. However has always been standard infinity opted to share the gauges with Mercedes for better or worse. The screen is quite big, and it does the usual stuff like navigation audio and safety system setting. Every 2018 Infiniti QX30 has electric power steering tuned specifically for this vehicle. So, overall the interior of the 2018 Infiniti QX30 has a classy design made with quality material and plenty of space.
